WATCHES & WONDERS 2023: Oris ProPilot X Kermit Edition

There was no missing the star of the Oris show in Geneva, with Kermit taking pride of place for the unexpected Oris and Kermit ‘partnership’, as it were.

Why Kermit? Well Oris tells us that it’s in part because of the chill factor (my words, not theirs) associated with the world’s most well known frog who came to the realisation that being green is actually a good thing.

This special edition of the ProPilot X Calibre 400 is about two things – a green dial, and the date aperture in which Kermit appears on the first day of every month. These are encased in a 39mm sized titanium case which has a commemorative engraving on the back and water resistance of 100m. There is Super-LumiNova on the hands and indices.

Visible through the open case back of the ProPilot X Kermit Edition is the automatic Calibre 400 which beats at 28,800 VPH and has a power reserve of five days.

Coming on a titanium bracelet and in a special commemorative box, the RRP of the Oris Kermit is EUR 4,400. Serious watches with a bit of levity (in whatever form) pop up now and then, but often at ‘either end’ of the price point spectrum. This brings a new ‘mid range’ option for those with a sense of kinship with Kermit, fondness for The Muppets, or those who like being green.
