One thing about watches and limited editions/ boutique-only editions is that they provide a window on the nature of some of the brand’s clientele. This is especially the case with independent brands/ watchmakers for whom, with close to zero marketing budgets, dedicated groups of owners/ collectors are especially important.
Andersen Genève has launched a Japan-oriented limited edition version of his Jumping Hours called the ‘Rising Sun’, limited to fifty pieces.
With a new dial variant of their jumping hours complication, It has an 18kt rose gold hand guilloché dial decoration that some of you may recall is called ‘magical lozenges’ – the diamond shapes pattern requires three different engine turning machines to create.
At 12 o’clock is the hours window, with the Andersen Genève logo above it. The minutes are on a sub dial at 6 o’clock which has a hobnail pattern and a brushed white gold hand. The railway chapter ring is printed in dark blue.
The platinum 950 case is 38mm with a thickness of 9.2mm and water resistance of 30m. It has a mix of polished and brushed finishing.

Through the open case back you can see the Frédéric Piguet 11.50 movement with a jumping hours mechanism developed by Andersen. It beats at 21,600 VPH and has a power reserve of sixty hours. The rotor has an 18 kt yellow gold hand guilloché ‘barley grain’ decoration and ‘A’ logo. Around the sapphire is a 21kt Blue Gold ring with the limitation number X/ 50 engraved on it.

Coming on a light grey hand-stitched suede strap with platinum buckle, the limited edition Andersen Genève Jumping Hours Rising Sun has an RRP of CHF 48,800.
